"They are losers" - Milei RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

170 economists signed letter against dollarization

170 economists of various political and academic lines signed an open letter against the proposal to dollarize Argentina.

According to the document, the plan of libertarian candidate Javier Milei "is a mirage" and "a false shortcut, which will lead us to new and more dramatic frustration".

One of the signatories is the former Minister of Economy Hernán Lacunza, who was part of the Mauricio Macri administration, for whom "dollarization is unfeasible".

Another economist, Daniel Marx, warned that replacing the peso with the US currency "could make daily life more difficult in Argentina".

In turn, prestigious academic Mario Rapoport said that "dollarization does not suit the country because the exchange rate policy is fundamental".

"The currency has to do with productivity", said the professor of the University of Buenos Aires.

The letter was signed by faculty and researchers in public and private institutions in the country and abroad.

All of them affirmed that Milei's idea "would be an ill-advised initiative to face the complex challenges that the Argentine economy has to deal with".

The libertarian was the most voted candidate in the primaries of last August and dollarization is one of the pillars of his government plan.

After the publication of the letter, Milei responded on social media that its signatories were "170 losers".
