Covid- 19 - Argentina RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

Restrictions extended until October 11

The Argentine government announced a new extension of restrictions to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus pandemic. On a spot broadcast on Friday, the Federal Government recommended local administrations to increase restrictions to deal with a surge in cases, particularly in provinces such as Jujuy, Santa Fe, Salta or Mendoza.

As highlighted on the spot, each province's government is in charge of deciding "measures for each territory". The situation in various provinces is concerning because in many regions, they had to roll back the easing down of restrictions amid a spike in cases putting pressure on the health system up to the point of collapse.

Six months after controls were implemented throughout the country, the administration of president Alberto Fernandez insisted the pandemic "does not admit neglect" and even though Argentina "continues to show good results in the regional context", in the Americas the COVID-19 pandemic continues to worsen and the Pan American Health Organization has warned that citizens are beginning to relax. Therefore, we have to be more careful than ever.
