RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

Argentina celebrated Charly García's 70th birthday

Argentines honored the rock icon with all kinds of tributes and shows across the country last Saturday.

The main events took place in the capital, the city of Buenos Aires. One was held at the Kirchner Cultural Center where musicians close to García rendered several of his songs such as "Demoliendo Hoteles" ("Tearing Down Hotels"), "Los Dinosaurios" ("The Dinosaurs") or Seminare. At one point, García himself arrived at this place and took the stage, playing some of his classics to an audience that went completely crazy.

Another homage was headed by another key symbol of rock in Spanish: Fito Páez, who performed at the world-famous Teatro Colón symphonic versions of García's songs.

The Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs also published on its social media platforms various greetings coming from artists around the world such as: Brazil's Caetano Veloso, Cuba's Silvio Rodríguez, Spain's Joan Manuel Serrat, Uruguay's Jorge Drexler and Rubén Rada, England's Andrew Loog Oldham, Panama's Rubén Blades and Colombia's Carlos Vives, among others.
