Foreign Minister ends visit to Vietnam

Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero concluded his official visit to Vietnam, where he was received by several authorities, including Prime Minister Pham Minh Chính.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the trip was aimed at deepening trade with the Asian country, Argentina's sixth commercial partner.

The same source reported that Cafiero's visit sought to advance in the diversification of the areas in which both nations cooperate, among them, agricultural technologies, knowledge economy and aerospace activity.

The trip comes in the run-up to the commemoration of 50 years of bilateral relations between Buenos Aires and Hanoi, which will be celebrated in 2023.

It is worth mentioning that over the last decade, Vietnam has positioned itself as a key trading partner of Argentina and that in 2021 bilateral exchange exceeded US$4.5 billion.

Among other issues discussed in his meeting with PM Chinh, Cafiero highlighted the possibilities offered by the country in terms of lithium, which is used for the batteries that power electric cars such as those to be developed by Vietnamese company VinFast.
