Coup attempt against Lula RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

Brazil's top court will judge military

In Brazil, the Supreme Court will put on trial those members of the military accused of participating in the attempted coup d'état of last January 8.

On that day, thousands of followers of former president Jair Bolsonaro stormed the main state buildings in capital Brasilia: the seat of government, the Parliament and the Palace of Justice.

Just a week earlier, Bolsonaro's successor, leftist Lula da Silva, had been sworn in.

In particular, members of the presidential guard, who allegedly refrained from acting in response to the attack, will be under investigation.

Thus, the Court put an end to speculations about the possibility of the defendants being tried by a military court.

It is worth mentioning that Bolsonaro had significant support among the Armed Forces, some of whose members were officials in his administration.
