Colombian President Petro's "total peace" plan RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

Ex FARC rebels announce talks

In Colombia, the so-called "dissidents" of the FARC announced they will hold peace talks with the government of President Gustavo Petro.

This is a faction that did not join the 2016 accord with the once largest Colombian guerrilla group.

The rebels said on Sunday that negotiations will begin on 16 May.

They also revealed the possibility that the process could begin in a country acting as a mediator, such as Norway.

The talks are part of President Petro's plan to achieve "total peace" in Colombia and put an end to all armed conflicts.

In this context, the government is already negotiating with the most important active guerrilla group, the ELN, and even with criminal groups such as the Clan del Golfo.
