Opposition accused of undermining IMF aid RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

The President blames "the Right" for the economic turmoil

President Alberto Fernández blamed "the right wing" for the exchange rate tension in Argentina.

In a contact with the press, he supported the accusations made by Sergio Chodos, Argentine director at the IMF.

The latter had claimed that three opposition economists had asked the Fund to halt disbursements to Argentina "until a new administration takes office".

"What Chodos says is absolutely true and it is not the first time we have seen it," said the President yesterday at Casa Rosada.

"It is a permanent practice of the Argentine right wing", explained the Head of State.

"They set up rumors and when the day is over they withdraw their profit from the exchange market, taking away the savings of Argentines", detailed Mr. Fernández.

The informal or blue dollar rate, it is worth remembering, increased from 400 to almost 500 pesos in the last two weeks.
