International Workers Day RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

President hails "lowest unemployment in decades"

President Alberto Fernández said yesterday that unemployment in Argentina "is the lowest in decades".

He said this in a message posted on social networks on the occasion of International Workers' Day.

In the post, he remarked: "We promised to generate work and we are doing it: many provinces have full employment".

The government also highlighted that employment in the private sector has been growing for 30 months.

Meanwhile, several opposition leaders also published messages for 1 May and promised improvements for wage earners if they win this year's elections.

One of them, the mayor of the city of Buenos Aires, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, said that "working has always been the way to get ahead, but today it is not enough and that is wrong".
