Baptism of Fire 41th anniversary RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

Argentina Air Force first fight remembered

The Argentine Air Force commemorated a new anniversary of its baptism of fire during the Malvinas War.

Its commander, Brigadier General Xavier Julián Isaac, headed a tribute yesterday in the city of Paraná, capital of the province of Entre Ríos.

41 years after the force's first combat, the military officer highlighted "something that has been recognised by the whole world: the courage and bravery of our people".

In this context, he recalled the members of the Air Force who fell during the war between Argentina and the United Kingdom.

"The war left us heroes, our 55 eternal heroes who are our guide and we do not forget them and we always keep them in mind," said Isaac.

The ceremony in Paraná was attended by several Malvinas veterans.

Some of them took part in the Force's baptism of fire on 1 May 1982, when Argentine aircraft attacked the British fleet for the first time.
