Uruguay were crowned youth football champions for the first time in their history.

The South Americans beat Italy 1-0 in the final of the tournament, which was played in the Argentine city of La Plata.

The only goal of the match was scored by striker Luciano Rodriguez, who plays for Uruguayan club Liverpool.

Of the seven matches Uruguay played in the Cup, they finished with an unbeaten goal in six of them.

The "Celeste" thus managed to win the U20 Cup for the first time after losing finals against Argentina in 1997 and France in 2013.

Some 70,000 Uruguayan supporters crossed the Rio de la Plata to cheer on their team in the final.
