Argentina in shock over murder of an 11-year old

Four days before the primary elections in Argentina, parties suspend their campaigns following the death of a girl during a robbery.

Morena Domínguez, 11, died on Wednesday after being attacked by thieves in Lanús, Buenos Aires province.

Two men on a motorbike beat her to steal her backpack when the child was about to enter school at 7:30 in the morning.

This is what can be seen in images from street security cameras, shown by the media.

Two suspects have been arrested for the crime and according to the Buenos Aires provincial government, "the case is solved".

Morena's death left the country in a state of shock, and residents of Lanús marched to demand justice.

In this context, several candidates repudiated the murder of the minor and canceled their campaign closing rallies ahead of the primaries on Sunday 13 August.

Among these candidates are the ruling party's Sergio Massa and opposition candidates Horacio Rodríguez Larreta and Patricia Bullrich.
