"Francis is Devil's representative" - Milei  RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

Priests defend Pope from candidate's attacks

Argentine priests held a mass on Tuesday to defend Pope Francis, who was verbally attacked by presidential candidate Javier Milei.

The libertarian hopeful, who received the most votes in last month's primaries, had called the Pontiff "the representative of the evil one on Earth".

The ceremony took place in a parish located in a poor neighborhood of Buenos Aires: Villa 21-24, with the attendance of about a thousand people.

In this context, the priest José di Paola said: "For us, the Pope is the one who guides and who reaches the hearts of people who do not belong to our religion with his words".

Milei had said in an interview that Francis was "nefarious" and also that he "promoted communism".
