Middle East conflict RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

Operation to repatriate Argentines begins

The operation to repatriate Argentines who wish to leave Israel due to the conflict with Hamas has begun.

It is the "Safe Return" plan, in which 713 citizens registered at the consulate in Tel Aviv to return to the country.

The procedure is organized by the Ministry of Defense and the Foreign Ministry.

This Tuesday, the first contingent departed from Israel aboard an Argentine Air Force Hercules.

A total of three military flights will take Argentines from Tel Aviv to Rome, from where they will travel to Buenos Aires on Aerolineas Argentinas planes.

According to government sources, most of those enrolled in "Safe Return" are tourists or exchange students.

Since the Hamas attack began last Saturday, the Foreign Ministry confirmed the death of seven Argentine citizens in Israel.

There are also 15 missing persons of the same nationality who are feared to have been kidnapped by the Palestinian militia.
