Exclusive Télam Interview RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

"AI rapid growth is concerning" - Pope Francis

Pope Francis expressed concern about the rapid advance of Artificial Intelligence.

For the Pontiff, the problem is that as this technology is implemented in an accelerated way, it does not have time "to settle down".

According to the Pope, "from the industrial revolution until the 1950's, there was a NON-accelerated development with control mechanisms in place".

And he continued: "but when changes come at an accelerated pace and there is not enough time for assimilation, we end up being slaves".

"And it is as dangerous to be a slave of a person or a job as it is to be a slave of a culture", said Jorge Bergoglio.

According to the Argentine, "The guideline of cultural progress, among them artificial intelligence, is the capacity of men and women to manage, assimilate and rule it".

Francis made these statements in an exclusive interview with the Argentine state news agency, Télam.
