Argentina approves anti-dengue vaccine

Argentina has approved a vaccine against dengue fever, amid a historic outbreak of the disease in the country.

ANMAT, the medicines regulatory agency, approved the compound developed by the Japanese laboratory Takeda.

It can be given to everyone over the age of four, whether they have had dengue or not.

The TAK-003 vaccine, also known as Qdenga, received its first approval in August 2022 in Indonesia and later in the European Union.

There are more than 56,000 confirmed cases of the disease transmitted by the Aedes Aegypti mosquito in Argentina.
