The youth football World Cup kicked off in Argentina and the hosts opened with a 2-1 win over Uzbekistan.

The Albiceleste started the match in heavy rain at the Madre de Ciudades stadium in Santiago del Estero.

But with goals from Alejo Véliz and Valentín Carboni, Argentina managed to turn the result around.

Now the team coached by Javier Mascherano will face Guatemala tomorrow in group A.

In other U20 World Cup results; Japan defeated Senegal 1-0, Italy beat Brazil 3-2, Colombia beat Israel 2-1 and Nigeria beat Dominican Republic 2-1.
