Malvinas Sovereignty RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

Argentina rejects UK concession of mining rights

The government of Argentina condemned the granting of licenses for mining exploration in the Malvinas Islands by the United Kingdom.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry rejected London's decision.

In the note, Buenos Aires denounces that the British government is infringing numerous UN resolutions that call for the resumption of sovereignty negotiations.

The United Nations appeals also call on the parties to refrain from "unilateral actions" until the dispute is resolved, the communiqué highlights.

The Foreign Ministry regretted that this "is not the first opportunity for the UK to take advantage of a de facto situation to explore and/or exploit non-renewable natural resources in this disputed territory”.
