After beating Croatia 3-0 in semis RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

Argentina to play its 6th WC final

Next Sunday, at the Lusail Stadium in Doha, the Argentine National Team will play its sixth final in almost a century of World Cups.

The first one was in the first World Cup, in 1930, when they lost 4-2 to the local team, Uruguay.

The Albiceleste would play in a final again only in 1978, when Argentina hosted the tournament.

In that game at home, at the River stadium, Argentina won its first cup by defeating the Netherlands 3-1.

Eight years later, in Mexico 1986, captained by Diego Maradona, the National Team would lift the trophy again, after beating West Germany 3-2.

Four years later, in Italy 1990, the Germans had their revenge and won 1-0 with a controversial penalty in the final.

Argentina would only return to a final 24 years later, in Brazil, when they lost again to Germany, 1-0.

This will also be Messi's sixth final with the national team since his debut in 2006 with the blue and white jersey.

In addition to Brazil 2014, he played in the finals of 2007, 2015, 2016 and 2021 Copa América.

In the latter, the team beat Brazil 1-0, breaking a 28-year title drought for the Argentine national team.
