Argentine FM travels to Cape Verde

Argentine Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero is traveling to Cape Verde to take part in a new meeting of the ZPCAS bloc, which brings together Atlantic nations from Africa and South America.

Representatives of 24 states will discuss defence, security, conservation, the environment and regional cooperation, among other issues, in the city of Mindelo.

In addition, during the summit, Uruguay will transfer the pro tempore presidency of the group to Cape Verde.

The Zone of Peace and Cooperation of the South Atlantic was founded in 1986 and is made up of Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Angola, Benin, Cape Verde, Cameroon and Congo.

Other members are Côte d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Namibia, Nigeria, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa and Togo.
