Roadmap for membership coming up RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

Argentine one step closer to joining OECD

Argentina's incorporation to the OECD, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, is moving forward.

The group bringing together the world's largest economies formalized having received the letter in which Buenos Aires accepted the invitation to join.

This was informed by the Argentine Foreign Ministry, which stated that the next step is to establish a road map towards full membership.

This timetable will be made public at the next OECD Council meeting, to be held in Paris next May.

Foreign Minister Diana Mondino is expected to attend the meeting.

In a press release, her portfolio highlighted that the OECD incorporation will be "another step for Argentina in its goal of strengthening its insertion in the international scenario".

It is worth recalling that one of Mondino's first actions after taking office in December was to accept the OECD's invitation.

Almost at the same time, the decision was announced NOT to join the BRICS bloc, made up of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
