Malvinas Sovereignty RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

Argentine stance defended at the UN in New York

The Secretary of Malvinas, Antarctica and South Atlantic led an Argentine delegation that traveled to the UN headquarters in New York.

Guillermo Carmona led the mission that participated in a debate on decolonization in the Fourth Committee of the General Assembly.

In this context, the official renewed the claim of sovereignty over the islands and the surrounding maritime territories.

Likewise, he denounced the unilateral activities of exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons that the British have enabled in the area.

Carmona also reiterated the call to the United Kingdom to resume negotiations in order to find a peaceful solution to the dispute.

Representatives of several Latin American countries reiterated at the UN forum their support to Argentina on the Malvinas issue.

Among them, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Panama, St. Lucia, Colombia, Dominican Republic and Paraguay.

Last week, delegates from Russia, El Salvador, Honduras, Venezuela, Mexico, Uruguay, Cuba, Bolivia and South Africa, among others, had also expressed their support.
