Patagonian woman RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

Argentine swimmer crosses English Channel

An Argentine woman swam across the English Channel.

Ailén Lascano Micaz managed to complete the 40-kilometer distance between the coasts of France and England.

The 31-year-old athlete is from Viedma, capital of the province of Río Negro, in Patagonia.

Lascano Micaz took 13 hours and 10 minutes to complete what she called "Everest for swimmers".

She made the crossing without any kind of artificial aid or thermal suit, as established by the rules of the Channel Swimming Association.

Ailén thus joins the select group of 2800 people who were able to achieve the feat, since Mathew Webb did it for the first time in 1875.
