Bolivia breaks ties with Israel over Gaza situation

Bolivia breaks relations with Israel for the attack on the Gaza Strip that left up to thousands of Palestinians dead, among them many children.

This was announced Tuesday by the Bolivian Deputy Foreign Minister Freddy Mamani.

The break, he explained, is in "repudiation and condemnation of the aggressive and disproportionate Israeli military offensive".

La Paz does not mention in its communiqué the Hamas attack of October 7, which left almost 1,500 dead and 240 kidnapped, according to Israeli sources.

In addition, the governments of Chile and Colombia called their ambassadors to Israel for consultations due to the situation in Gaza.

Chilean President Gabriel Boric expressed on social networks that his country "strongly condemns and observes with great concern... these military operations".

His Colombian counterpart, Gustavo Petro, had also stated earlier in a post: "if Israel does not stop the massacre of the Palestinian people, we cannot be there".
