RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

"Charly García Corner" in New York City

This November marks the 40th anniversary of the release of Charly García's album "Clics Modernos".

For the Argentine and international artistic community, that record is a masterpiece of Latin American music.

Clics Modernos was recorded in New York City, and the cover features a photo of Charly García on a Manhattan corner: Walker St. and Cortlandt Alley, in Chinatown.

The photo shows graffiti by the famous Canadian artist Richard Hambleton, who at one stage of his artistic career made a series of black figures on the walls of New York called "Shadowman".

Richard was a Canadian artist known for his work as a street artist.

The album cover bears the pre-existing inscription "Modern Clix", from which Charly took the name for the album.

"Modern Clix", belongs to a musical band of the time, now disbanded.

In the context of this record's 40th anniversary, Charly García and his followers will have a meeting spot, an iconic place in New York, some sort of Abbey Road for fans of his music.

On November 6, at the corner of Walker and Cortlandt, a special sign and a commemorative plaque will be inaugurated to commemorate the site of "Clics Modernos" cover.

Visitors to NY will be able to see the "Charly Garcia Corner" starting next Monday.

The project "Charly Garcia Corner in New York" is promoted by Mariano Cabrera, actor, theater teacher and former manager of the group Twist.

The event will be attended by the Argentine Ambassador in Washington, Jorge Argüello, the Consul General in New York, Ambassador Santiago Villalba ,and authorities of the City of New York. A brief message from García himself will also be screened.
