Chileans choose president between two extremely different candidates

Next Sunday, December 19, is the run-off between leftist Gabriel Boric and far-right José Antonio Kast.

The most voted presidential candidates in the first round of November 21 were those representing new players in Chilean politics.

On the one hand, Kast, backed by the Social Christian Front, and on the other, Boric, from the Apruebo Dignidad bloc, formed by the Frente Amplio and the Communist Party.

The ballotage is a face-off between a representative of those who took to the streets in October 2019 and one of those who want to restore the status-quo from before the social outburst.

According to analysts, and after the debates, it is an election with an open ending.
