Ambassador Xiaoli ends tenure in BA RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

China renews support to Argentina's Malvinas claim

China ratified its support for Argentina on the Malvinas issue and reiterated that it backs the South American country's request to join the BRICS bloc of emerging economies.

This was stated by the Chinese ambassador in Buenos Aires, Zou Xiaoli, when he made an assessment of his four-year term at the diplomatic seat, which is coming to an end.

In a public farewell letter, Xiaoli recalled the bilateral collaboration during the pandemic, when Argentina received millions of doses of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine.

The diplomat also highlighted Chinese investments in infrastructure works, such as the construction of two dams in Patagonia, among other projects.

"The Chinese government and people appreciate Argentina for backing the one-China principle," the diplomat also said on the subject of Taiwan.

In his message, Xiaoli revealed that the highlight of his mission in Buenos Aires was witnessing the celebrations of Argentines for winning the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

The ambassador spoke at a ceremony to mark the anniversary of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, which was attended by the Argentine Minister of Defence, Jorge Taiana.
