Government warning RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

Fines for companies that don't pay bonus

The government warned that companies that do not pay an additional bonus to their employees will be fined.

Labour Minister Raquel Olmos called on unions to identify firms that refuse to pay it.

The bonus is about 60,000 pesos - about 170 dollars - which the government has set for all salaried workers, whether in the public or private sector.

The cost is to be borne by employers, although smaller companies will have state support to pay it.

This is one of the measures adopted by the national government to compensate for the impact of the devaluation and inflation of more than 100%.

The Casa Rosada invited provincial and municipal governments to implement a similar measure for their public workers.

However, several jurisdictions, especially those governed by the opposition, announced that they would not do so.

Several companies and business chambers also expressed their opposition to the reinforcement, claiming that they cannot afford it.
