G7 Summit in Japan RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

"FMI is tearing Argentina apart" -Lula

Brazilian President Lula da Silva denounced that "IMF conditions are destroying Argentina".

He did so while speaking in Hiroshima, at the G7 Summit.

The South American leader was referring to Argentina's debt with the International Monetary Fund, which exceeds 40 billion dollars.

In the Japanese city, Lula met with the head of the Fund, Kristalina Giorgieva.

Brasilia reported that the President told her that Argentina's economic situation is a key element in the "regional balance" of South America.

Lula complained to Georgieva that the IMF does not take into account the social consequences of the cuts in public spending that it demands of debtor states.

The Brazilian was the only Latin American leader invited to the summit of the group that includes the United States, Canada, the UK, France, Italy, Germany and Japan.
