IMF to investigate 2018 Argentina credit

The International Monetary Fund will investigate the loan granted to Argentina in 2018.

This was informed this Monday by the IMF's Independent Evaluation Office.

The loan was for 54 billion dollars and was requested by the government of then President Mauricio Macri.

The entity clarified that the assessment is in order in these cases in which "the normal limits of access to IMF resources are exceeded".

It is worth mentioning that Argentina received the largest loan in the history of the Washington-based organization.

In an interview, the Minister of Economy Sergio Massa had anticipated yesterday that the IMF would investigate "capital flight" during Macri's government.
