Lionel Messi revealed that Qatar 2022 could have been his last World Cup.

In an interview with a Chinese digital media outlet, the Albiceleste captain cast doubt on his participation in the next tournament, in 2026.

"I've said it a few times, I think this was my last World Cup. We'll see how things turn out, but I don't think I'll make it to the next one," Messi said.

The 35-year-old is in Beijing for Argentina's friendly against Australia tomorrow, Thursday 15.

Four days later, the world champions face Indonesia in Jakarta.
