Argentina Elections 2023 RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

"Opposition despises the country" - Sergio Massa

The closing of the electoral campaigns is imminent in the run-up to next Sunday's primaries in Argentina.

In this context, one of the ruling party's pre-candidates, Economy Minister Sergio Massa, led a rally in Tortuguitas, in the province of Buenos Aires.

In this context, he criticized the opposition because - according to him - they say that Argentina "is a shitty country, but they want to govern it".

For the minister, this reflects "that they have a project for power and not for the nation".

And he accused his rivals of wanting to cut down social and labour rights.

On his platform, Massa promised: "We are going to generate an exporting Argentina that pays the International Monetary Fund".

Massa is one of two pre-candidates for the presidential nomination of the ruling coalition "Unión por la Patria".

The other is social leader Juan Grabois, whom polls show to be far behind the minister in terms of voting intentions.

For the opposition, the main alliance is "Juntos por el Cambio" (Together for Change), to which former president Mauricio Macri belongs.

The mayor of Buenos Aires, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, and the former Security Minister Patricia Bullrich are competing on Sunday for this space’s nomination.

This August 13, voters will be able to decide between almost 30 presidential tickets.

From these choices will come the final candidates for the general election on 22 October.
