Conflict over energy and navigation RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

Paraguayan FM meets Argentina ambassador tp lower tensions

Paraguayan FM Rubén Ramírez received in Asunción the Argentine Ambassador Domingo Peppo to lower the tension in the conflict between the neighbors.

At the meeting they agreed on the need to maintain dialogue to solve the differences and strengthen the integration process.

This was informed in a press release by the Paraguayan government.

The dispute between the South American countries was generated by the toll charged by Buenos Aires to transit the Paraná River, Paraguay's main export outlet.

In retaliation, Asunción cut back on the delivery of energy from the binational Yacyretá dam.

In this context, a Paraguayan legislator went as far as to say that he was ready to "go to war with Argentina".
