Snatched as babies by the dictatorship RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

Siblings meet at the age of 46

Two siblings snatched as babies during the dictatorship met at the age of 46.

They are a man and a woman born in 1977 who met in the context of one of the many ongoing trials for crimes against humanity against violators and accomplices.

The siblings, whose identity was not revealed by the Judiciary, discovered their kinship thanks to the National Genetic Data Bank.

This archive contains genetic material of people who doubt their identity and seek to determine whether they are the sons or daughters of people disappeared between 1976 and 1983.

Investigators discovered that the two persons were children of the same parents and arranged a meeting, with the prior consent of the siblings.

It is estimated that there are more than 800 babies and children who were appropriated by Junta agents or families close to them.

These children were raised under false identities, keeping their true origin hidden, which prevented contact with their real families.

Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo is the human rights group in charge of tracing these lost "grandchildren".
