South American countries renew support to Argentina

Argentina received new support for its claim to the Malvinas Islands.

This was expressed at a new meeting of the Brasilia Consensus, made up of South American Ministers of Defense and Foreign Affairs.

Argentina was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Pablo Tettamanti and the Secretary of International Defense Affairs, Francisco Cafiero.

At the meeting in the Brazilian capital a special declaration on Malvinas was signed in which the officials endorsed the legitimate sovereignty rights of the Argentine Republic.

They also urged the United Kingdom to resume negotiations to peacefully resolve the dispute.

The document was signed by representatives of Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela.
