68 years as a province RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

The President joins Formosa anniversary celebrations

President Alberto Fernández took part in the 68th anniversary celebrations in Formosa, a province in northeastern Argentina.

He shared the stage with Governor Gildo Insfrán, whom he congratulated on winning re-election by a wide margin in last Sunday's elections.

On 28 June 1955, Formosa, which until then had been a territory administered by the national government, was declared a province.

On his Twitter account, Mr Fernández said: "It has been a great pleasure to share the celebrations with the people of Formosa and their governor".

And he added: "In 1955, with Perón as President, the will of the people of Formosa became a reality: to be the protagonists of their own destiny".
