Government demands it for BA blackouts RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

Travel ban on EDESUR executives

In Argentina, the government is seeking to prevent the top executives of EDESUR, from leaving the country.

That’s the energy company questioned for massive and prolonged blackouts in Buenos Aires in recent days.

The ENRE, the electricity regulatory agency, asked courts for a travel ban on the nine members of the company's board.

They were denounced for "defrauding agreed rights, abandonment of persons and hindering public services".

This week, the Casa Rosada announced the intervention of EDESUR for six months due to the outages that affected tens of thousands of homes in the capital.

Officials clarified, however, that this measure does not imply a nationalisation of the company controlled by Italian capital.
